Do you have first aid training? Do you have medical kits?
Better yet... do you know what's in them and how to use it?
If you haven't seen it yet, I made an online course called "How to Build Your First Aid Kit" and it goes through every step from what type of pre-made kits are out there and how to choose one to a list of everything I've added to my kits. It even takes you through a mock first aid scenario. Click here to download the free course.
Here's an excerpt from the course:
It's one thing (and a GREAT start) to have bought a medical kit, but knowing what's inside (and how to use it) brings you to the next level of preparedness to your activities. Personally, I think having some first aid training should be a priority when preparing to get outside and be active, especially if you’re going into the backcountry or where medical help may be limited.
I have 4 medical kits:
single day, 1-2 people
multi day, or single day 3+ people
full level one (kept at home)
full level two (kept in my truck)
Every kit I own has been customized, and every kit is restocked when items are taken/moved or used. This is key. A bought first aid kid will have very basic, standard stuff in it. Common injuries vary between different activities and knowing what type of injuries are common to the activity you're participating in allows you to better stock your kit. You can keep lists of what you keep in your kits, and remember to re-stock them after you've used them!
Also, even if you don't use anything in them, go through them regularly to make sure packages/seals haven't been broken and that everything is in good, sterile, usable condition. Don’t forget, things like Polysporin do expire!
