Trail Ready is a self-paced online course for women who have decided they want to hike or backpack and do not feel ready to go out yet. Nine modules cover mindset, safety and the Ten Essentials, trip planning, navigation by map, compass and satellite device, food and water management, gear, trail etiquette and Leave No Trace, backcountry hygiene, and wildlife. You also get a first aid kit mini course, short lessons on bear hangs, bear spray, trekking poles and tick safety, and longer masterclasses including snowshoeing and cold weather hiking. It works hardest when you have something on the calendar, whether that is a Women in the Wild trip or your first backpacking weekend, because the whole course is built around planning and running that trip yourself. You go at your own pace, and the safety side goes well past the basics into weather calls, wildlife encounters, and navigating without relying on your phone.

Snowshoe Ready is a self-paced course for women who want to keep hiking through the winter and don’t know where to start. Seven modules cover gear and clothing, basic snowshoeing technique, safety and risk management in winter conditions, planning and navigation, trail etiquette and leave no trace, staying comfortable and managing fatigue, and troubleshooting common issues.
The bonus section includes the full Intro to Snowshoeing and Cold Weather Hiking masterclass along with a resource list.

How to Build Your First Aid Kit is a free mini course, two videos and just under 20 minutes total. It covers where to find first aid kits, how to customize one for your own needs and the kind of adventures you take, and what first aid training is available if you want to go further. You also get a checklist of every supply in the kit Trish carries on her own adventures. A pre-packed kit off the shelf is a starting point, and this shows you what to add to it.
